Vol. 19 No. 32 (2024): Science, health and sustainability: research from Guerrero for the 21st century

This 19th volume of Tlamati Sabiduría brings together a collection of research projects that reflect the diversity and academic commitment of the Autonomous University of Guerrero and its collaborating institutions. The works compiled here address current issues in natural sciences, health, mathematics education, organizational communication, and environmental conservation, offering significant contributions to the understanding and resolution of regional, national, and global challenges.

In the field of chemical and biological sciences, studies are presented on the antiradical activity and encapsulation of extracts from medicinal plants used in traditional medicine in Guerrero, highlighting the potential of species such as Kalanchoe daigremontiana, Eucalyptus globulus, and Tecoma stans as promising sources of natural antioxidants for application in the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries. Additionally, the differential incidence of mistletoe in native and introduced plants in urban and peri-urban areas of central Guerrero is analyzed, generating key information for the design of control and management strategies for these parasitic plants.

In the field of health and epidemiology, a Bayesian mixture mathematical model is presented to describe COVID-19 outbreaks in the state of Guerrero. This tool allows for the identification of peaks in infections, hospitalizations, and deaths during the pandemic, contributing to public health decision-making.

In the field of mathematics education, a methodological proposal is offered to strengthen the comprehension phase of mathematical problems, addressing one of the main difficulties faced by students and teachers in the teaching-learning process.

In the field of organizational communication, findings are presented on the management of internal communication and its relationship with organizational culture at the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry, Guerrero Delegation. Strategies are proposed to improve teamwork, productivity, and employee integration. Finally, in the area of ​​environmental conservation, highly relevant topics are addressed, such as the prevalence of the fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis in amphibians of the cloud forests of southern Mexico, the challenges and opportunities in the protection of sea turtles in Guerrero, and social attitudes related to the consumption of sea turtle eggs in the town of Llano Real.
