Importance of the horse in sustainable agricultural production in the tropics of Mexico

A bibliographic review was carried out on the horse (Equus caballus) as a work animal and its contribution to agricultural production from its arrival in Mexico to the present, with the purpose of describing the importance of its use in a sustainable way. It is described from its taxonomy, origin and evolution, to the characteristics that distinguish it as an animal suitable for carrying out agricultural work activities as a sustainable practice that contributes to animal, social and environmental well-being.
