Review

1. Identification Data (Bibliographic Entry)
This should begin the text with technical precision, following the journal's format (usually APA 7th edition):
Author(s) of the reviewed work.
Full title, year of publication, and publisher.
Number of pages and ISBN.

2. Contextualization and Purpose
Instead of simply summarizing, you should explain why the work is relevant now:
Author Profile: Include their background and specialization in the field.
Justification: What question or knowledge gap does the work address?
Target Audience: Identify who will benefit from this content (students, researchers, etc.).

3. Annotated Summary (Content)
This is not a simple chapter-by-chapter summary, but an analytical description of the central ideas:
Structure: Explain how the material is organized.
Sources and Technique: Mention if the author uses a novel methodology or unpublished data. Clarity of voice: It is essential to use quotation verbs ("the author argues," "proposes") to clearly distinguish the ideas in the work from your own as the reviewer.

4. Critical Judgment and Evaluation (The Heart of the Review)
This is the section that defines the academic quality of your writing. It is not based on personal tastes, but on a well-founded analysis:

Strengths and weaknesses: Discuss the coherence of the argument, the currency of the references, and the soundness of the conclusions.

Contribution to the field: What does this book or article offer that did not exist before?

Tone: It should be formal, objective, and respectful, even when pointing out errors.

5. Format Requirements for Indexed Journals
Indexed journals (in databases such as Latindex, SciELO, or Scopus) usually impose strict criteria:

Originality: The text must be unpublished and not under review by another journal. Length: Generally short (between 800 and 1,500 words, depending on the journal).
Grammar guidelines: Use of impersonal language and impeccable writing.
Anonymity: If the journal uses blind peer review, the reviewer's information should not appear in the body of the manuscript.
